A few months ago someone told me about a group of people who get together on the infernalnet and pool their money to buy good quality latex sheet. I *think* these folks are mostly on the west coast.
Does this sound familiar? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Re: Latex buying co-op
Thu, March 1, 2007 - 4:53 PMSometimes I have trouble finding stuff on the IAR site, and this was one of them! So far no luck. I searched through RP too but didn't find it. Hopefully one of the other rubber tribers will know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, thanks Raul! -

Re: Latex buying co-op
Fri, April 6, 2007 - 3:00 PMOkay, about nine pages into the forums about Obtaining Latex Sheeting on IAR, there is a post form rubberdino from October 2005 where Dino sets up the co-opp to order sheeting.
Here is Rubberdino's email link. rubberdino@rubberist.net or dinodgk44@yahoo.com
Here is a link to a US distributor www.mjtrends.com/categorie...x-Sheeting with reasonable pricing
I'm still wading through all the stuff on IAR's site. I'll let you know if I learn more that means anything. -

Tue, April 10, 2007 - 12:53 PMI rad through the whole bloody thing and they must have conducted everything by email. So I went ahead and looked seriously into MJTrends.
I'll let you know when everything comes in.

Tue, April 10, 2007 - 12:58 PMThis would be great for the hard to find colors too. I know that 4D has the color of purple I really like but its in pearlsheen and Im hoping to find that same color but not in anything transparent or pearlsheen.

Re: Latex buying co-op
Tue, April 24, 2007 - 4:42 PMIt arrived FedEx ground the other day. I had the day off yesterday and started working. So far so good and I'm happy with the results. So is Funky, especially since I began her working on her specific request.
I know what you mean about too many projects. -

Re: Latex buying co-op
Wed, April 25, 2007 - 10:59 AMNow I know why lots of people just run a line of trim instead of folding over and gluing a hem. It's a real PITA.

Re: Latex buying co-op
Wed, April 25, 2007 - 3:22 PMHey, funny you should mention that, there was a pretty good discussion on IAR about how to do that. Search the forums for " The best way to fold a hem seam" It still sounds like a lot of work but should produce good results.
You'll have to post a photo of your completed work. -

Re: Latex buying co-op
Tue, June 12, 2007 - 3:52 PMfolding a seam:
the stretch and roll method is really the best method, but it takes practice.
basically you start the fold, then while slowly folding it with the roller, you "steer" the fold with the far end.
just don't stretch it, merely "steer" it.
if you can't deal with that, then tape a cleaned wide strip upside down to the table. (rough side clean and up)
trowl a layer of glue on it. let dry. place "easy release" (blue or purple) masking tape over the glued surface.
use a ruler and make lines.
cut the strips, which are now ready to apply and not sticky wet noodles. just peel slowly as you work.
